Who am I?

That is the name of the artist behind KritterZ.

While I was recovering from burnout in 2019, a friend of mine dragged me along to a welding course. I loved it; fire, flames, grinding and hammering, finally making something again, being creatively challenged. There I rediscovered a piece of creativity that I had long forgotten I had. That made me want more, but welding is not something you just do in a small backyard. Another friend, who is very creative in embroidery and other 'fiddling work', sent me links from various social media platforms. There I quickly came across metal creations, especially birds, that seemed fantastic to be able to make. Smaller pieces, so why not solder instead of weld? If I hadn't happened to meet someone from Groningen who was willing to reveal the secrets of cutlery soldering to me, it might not have worked, but we're now quite a few 'KritterZ' further. I believe I have now found my own style in this and my creations are recognizable as KritterZ. On the suggestion of my husband, we set up a shed in our garden where I, together with my sons, built a workbench and extraction system. I have a lot of fun and satisfaction making my cutlery art there and I hope to be able to spend more time on it in the coming period. I hope you can enjoy it as much as I do!

Each piece of cutlery has its own story and history. By transforming these into artworks, I give them a new life and a new meaning. My work is a reflection of sustainability and the beauty of reuse.
